Charging points for electric cruisers to be installed along the Shannon – The Irish Times

Five charging points for electric boats will be installed along the Shannon Navigation by 2026, with plans to increase to 10 by 2029 as part of a strategy to green the cruiser-hire business in Ireland. The feasibility study conducted by KPMG for Fáilte Ireland aims to have 25% of new boats with electric or hybrid engines by 2033, while also focusing on increasing the market for cruiser holidays and transitioning to hydrotreated vegetable oil as a fossil-free fuel alternative. Key stakeholders have come together to form an implementation group to support the sustainable development of the cruise hire sector along the Shannon Navigation and Shannon-Erne Waterway.
