Summary
Irish national broadcaster RTÉ has requested a discussion with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) regarding Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. RTÉ’s director general, Kevin Bakhurst, expressed his distress over the humanitarian impact of ongoing events in the Middle East, particularly concerning civilians in Gaza and Israeli hostages. Despite this, the Eurovision director noted that no EBU member has publicly opposed the inclusion of Israeli broadcaster Kan, with the contest scheduled to take place in Switzerland from 13 to 17 May.
