The Central government has allocated ₹25 crore for the development of Nagarjuna Sagar in Andhra Pradesh under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, aiming to enhance the Buddhist heritage and tourism infrastructure. The project includes the creation of Buddhist-themed gardens, bio-toilets, CCTV cameras, a tourism website, and training workshops, overseen by the APTDC and scheduled for completion within a year. Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu and Macharla MLA Julakanti Brahma Reddy have welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its potential to boost tourism in the region.
