Leonora Tima, inspired by the violent death of her pregnant relative in South Africa, developed the app Grit to help women discuss and track abuse. The app features a help button that records audio and alerts a rapid-response center, along with a secure vault for storing evidence of abuse. With support from organizations like Mozilla and the Gates Foundation, Grit aims to empower victims, although experts caution against replacing human support with technology. The app has gained traction, with 13,000 users and significant requests for assistance, highlighting a growing need for such resources in communities.
