A record 81.8 million Americans are expected to travel over Thanksgiving weekend, despite economic anxieties and the impact of a recent six-week government shutdown. While air travel is up with six million flying domestically, many travelers are opting for cheaper alternatives like trains and buses due to recent flight cancellations. A Deloitte survey indicates travelers plan to spend around 18% less this year, primarily staying with friends and family instead of at hotels. Additionally, international travel to the U.S. is projected to decline significantly, particularly from Canada, affecting the travel and tourism industry.
