Canada Rocket Company, launching this Friday, aims to be the first Canadian firm capable of launching medium-payload satellites, addressing national defense needs amidst global political turbulence. The Toronto-based startup has raised $6.2 million in funding, marking the largest all-Canadian seed round for a space startup. CEO Hugh Kolias highlighted the growing importance of space for security, as the company targets the expanding medium-payload market, currently dominated by SpaceX and others. With plans to scale up operations and repatriate Canadian talent, Canada Rocket anticipates significant growth by 2030.
