Canada to give automakers a break on EV sales target as US tariffs weigh | Business and Economy News

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the waiver of a 20% emissions-free vehicle sales requirement for 2025 as part of a $5 billion fund to support businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs. The measure aims to alleviate economic pressures on the auto industry, while Ottawa will also review costs associated with electric vehicle mandates and enhance support for farmers and Canadian suppliers.
