The Norwegian Nobel Committee has urged Iran to release activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi, who has been imprisoned multiple times during her 30-year campaign for women’s rights. Recently sentenced to an additional 7.5 years, Mohammadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 while still incarcerated. Reports indicate she was violently arrested and subjected to mistreatment during her detention. The committee condemned her treatment as a violation of international human rights law, highlighting the repression faced by those advocating for freedom and equality in Iran.
