A Cook County judge is expected to determine members of the Calumet City electoral board after Clerk Nyota Figgs objected to Mayor Thaddeus Jones’ eligibility for reelection, citing residency and referendum issues. The board, chaired by attorney Tom Jaconetty and including aldermen Ramonde Williams and Anthony Smith, is being challenged for bias due to their political ties to Jones. Figgs also faces a candidacy challenge from city auditor Alyssia Benford, with a ruling from Judge Maureen Ward Kirby pending on the board’s makeup for the next meeting on Dec. 6.

Man arrested on DC Metrobus for fare evasion found carrying loaded shotgun: police
A man named Gerald Evans was arrested in Washington, D.C., for boarding a Metrobus without paying the fare and was found to be carrying a loaded shotgun.
