Nigeria’s ex-justice minister released on bail

A Nigerian court has granted bail to former attorney general Abubakar Malami, his wife, and son, who face money laundering charges. Malami, a prominent figure in former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, has pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of money laundering and abuse of office, claiming his arrest is politically motivated. Bail is set at 500 million naira each, with conditions including property guarantees and surrendering travel documents. The case will resume on February 17, 2025.
