A Syrian refugee family that resettled in the West Midlands shares how they found kinship in the friendship of strangers.
Khaled and Bushra, who fled Syria due to the war, resettled in Lichfield, UK, in 2023 after years in Turkey. They were welcomed by local volunteers Margaret and George at the airport, sparking a new friendship. The family has since embraced their new home, enjoying local sights and traditions while keeping their cultural heritage alive through food. Bushra expresses gratitude for their new community, viewing their hosts as family.
