South Africa’s criminal intelligence chief, Lt-Gen Dumisani Khumalo, was arrested on fraud and corruption charges after arriving in Johannesburg, along with six senior police officers, all of whom plan to plead not guilty. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into the misuse of intelligence funds and have prompted concerns about the integrity of the police’s Crime Intelligence unit, which is facing multiple corruption allegations.
