US Legislation Against Revenge Porn and Deepfakes
President Donald Trump has signed the Take It Down Act, criminalizing the non-consensual posting of “intimate images,” including deepfake content, requiring tech companies to remove such content within 48 hours. Although the bill received bipartisan support, critics, including digital rights groups, argue it may lead to censorship of legitimate content and threaten free expression and privacy rights. First Lady Melania Trump, who has advocated for the bill, highlighted the need to protect vulnerable individuals, especially young teens, from harmful online material.
