Mayors call for PM to visit Calais migrant camps

A mayor in Calais has called on the Prime Minister to visit the region and understand the impact of small boat crossings, highlighting the need for cooperation between the UK and France. Last year saw a record number of small boat crossings in the English Channel, with 78 deaths reported. Efforts to disrupt criminal smuggling gangs and enhance law enforcement response have been intensified, with over £7m redirected towards these initiatives.
