Remains exhumed from cemetery in search for Troubles dead

In County Monaghan, the body searching for the remains of the Disappeared conducted an exhumation at Annyalla cemetery, with suspicions linking the activity to the 1972 disappearance of Joe Lynskey, who was abducted and murdered by the IRA during The Troubles. The Lynskey family remains cautiously hopeful as the process to identify the remains found in the grave begins, with the WAVE Trauma Centre expressing support for the family’s long-awaited closure and the return of Mr. Lynskey’s remains for a proper burial. The search for the remaining Disappeared, including Columba McVeigh, Seamus Maguire, and Robert Nairac, continues, with the ICLVR committed to resolving these cases.
