'Our generation is lonelier so we're friendship matchmakers'

Mary and Juliette founded the Dinner with a Stranger society at Glasgow University to help students make new friends by setting them up on blind friendship dates based on personality quizzes, with over 200 students joining in the first month. They believe that social media has led to increased loneliness in their generation, but their unique approach to meeting new people has helped participants like Vanya and Hannah become best friends and flatmates, improving mental health and confidence. Juliette sees this “fun experiment” as a modern way to connect with others and hopes more people will give friendship dating a try.
