Former GP Rhys Cullen, who has a troubled past including losing his medical license, sought to silence the Herald regarding his involvement with Bewt. Cullen and his associate Siaosi Gavet aimed to convert the public school into a taxpayer-funded charter school. The school community celebrated the withdrawal of Bewt’s bid as "wonderful news."
