The attempted takeover of Kelston Boys’ High School in Auckland by the Bangerz Education and Wellbeing Trust (Bewt) has collapsed, largely due to backlash from the school’s board and staff. Former GP Rhys Cullen, who has a troubled past including losing his medical license, sought to silence the Herald regarding his involvement with Bewt. Cullen and his associate Siaosi Gavet aimed to convert the public school into a taxpayer-funded charter school. The school community celebrated the withdrawal of Bewt’s bid as "wonderful news."
