The Chincoteague wild ponies have completed their 100th annual swim across the Assateague Channel, a tradition started in 1925, where “Saltwater Cowboys” round up the ponies for the swim to Chincoteague Island. Hosted by the Chincoteague Fire Department, the event includes a foal auction to help manage the pony population on Assateague.
