Romanian far-right populist Calin Georgescu has been barred from participating in the upcoming presidential election rerun due to procedural issues, following the annulment of last year’s vote where he came first. The Central Electoral Bureau’s decision has sparked violent clashes between his supporters and police, with tear gas being fired. Georgescu, who has been previously arrested on charges of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order, now has 24 hours to appeal the ban and awaits a ruling within 72 hours.
