The Met Office has declared 2025 as the warmest and sunniest year on record in the UK, with an average temperature of 10.09C, surpassing the previous record of 10.03C set in 2022. It is the second year in history where the mean annual temperature exceeded 10C, joining 2022 and 2023 in the top three warmest years. Additionally, 2025 recorded 1,648.5 hours of sunshine, breaking the previous record from 2003. The year will also be noted for Storm Éowyn, one of the significant windstorms of the century.
