Record numbers seek help with water bills

Record numbers of households in England and Wales sought help with water bills last year, with water companies spending £259m on social tariffs, but support varies significantly depending on location. The number of households on social tariffs rose by a fifth to 1.6 million, with concerns raised about disparities in support schemes across different regions. The Consumer Council for Water is calling for a unified scheme to ensure equal assistance for all low-income households.
