Uganda’s military chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba has refuted allegations that soldiers assaulted Barbara Kyagulanyi, the wife of opposition leader Bobi Wine, during a raid at their home. Wine, currently in hiding, claimed that military officers held his wife at gunpoint and assaulted her while searching for him. In response, Kainerugaba stated on social media that his soldiers do not harm women and are focused on capturing Wine. Meanwhile, the Uganda Law Society condemned ongoing violence and detentions of opposition supporters following the controversial election results favoring long-serving President Yoweri Museveni.
