Paramilitaries strike Port Sudan for first time, army says

A drone attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted the Osman Digna Air Base in Port Sudan on Sunday, marking a significant escalation in the conflict which began in April 2023. While no injuries were reported, the attack caused limited damage, and the airport has since been closed, disrupting flights. The ongoing conflict has resulted in an estimated 150,000 deaths and displaced millions, with Port Sudan serving as a refuge and the de facto capital for the Sudanese military government amid a humanitarian crisis affecting over 30 million people.
