Adidas designer sorry for shoes 'appropriated' from Mexico

US fashion designer Willy Chavarria has apologized for his Oaxaca Slip-On shoes, created with Adidas Originals, after they were criticized for cultural appropriation of traditional Mexican huaraches. The footwear, made in China without consulting Indigenous artisans, prompted backlash, including from the Mexican president, leading Chavarria to express regret over the lack of meaningful collaboration with the Oaxacan community.
