RAF Joins French Airstrike Against ISIS Arms Cache in Syria
Royal Air Force Typhoon jets, in collaboration with French aircraft, targeted an underground arms cache used by the Islamic State group in Syria, as confirmed by the UK Ministry of Defence. The strike, which occurred near Palmyra, successfully engaged the facility with Paveway IV guided bombs, with no reported civilian casualties. UK Defence Secretary John Healey emphasized the UK’s commitment to combating ISIS resurgence, highlighting ongoing RAF patrols in the region. The United Nations estimates that ISIS still has 5,000 to 7,000 fighters active in Syria and Iraq.
