Over 60,000 people leave el-Fasher after RSF takeover, UN reports
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

More than 60,000 people have fled el-Fasher, Sudan, following its capture by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), amid reports of mass executions and severe human rights violations. The UNHCR is struggling to provide shelter and food for the displaced, with many children suffering from malnutrition. Over 150,000 remain trapped in the city as the RSF faces accusations of targeting non-Arab populations, despite denying ethnic motivations. The conflict, which began in April 2023, has resulted in over 150,000 deaths and is deemed the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
