A recent report by Skipton Group building society found that Wales is the least affordable part of Great Britain for first-time buyers, with six out of the 10 least affordable areas in the country. Ceredigion and Powys were identified as the least affordable areas in Wales, with less than 3% of potential first-time buyers in Ceredigion able to afford a home. Factors contributing to the affordability challenge include high house prices, low incomes, and limited housing options for first-time buyers. The Welsh government has extended the Help to Buy Wales scheme to address these challenges.
