Syria presidency to send new force to halt clashes in south

The Syrian presidency plans to deploy a new force to address violent sectarian clashes between Bedouin and Druze fighters in Suweida, where nearly 600 deaths have been reported since Sunday. Amid allegations of extrajudicial killings by government troops, a proposed ceasefire supported by Israel, Turkey, and Jordan calls for all factions to cease hostilities and work towards a united Syrian identity.
