Gabon Lifts Sanctions on Team and Aubameyang After AFCON Exit
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Gabon’s government has lifted sanctions on the national football team and striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following their disappointing performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where they finished last in Group F. The previous sports minister had imposed sanctions, including team suspension and staff changes, after the team’s poor showing. New sports minister Paul Ulrich Kessany reversed these measures, emphasizing the importance of upcoming deadlines for Fegafoot, Gabon’s football federation. Kessany has also invited Fegafoot to propose a new technical staff to replace sacked coach Thierry Mouyouma.
