Buddhist monk rescued after days trapped upside down in cave

An elderly Buddhist monk, Luang Ta Somchai, 77, survived four days trapped upside down in a narrow cave in Thailand without food or water after going missing on December 7. Rescuers found him on December 11 after an extensive search and had to abseil down to reach him, where he was wedged in a rock crevice. Despite his ordeal, he sustained only minor injuries and was dehydrated. Authorities praised his survival as remarkable, noting he remained conscious when found.
