A protester was forcibly removed from the stage at Aotearoa’s largest LGBTQ festival, Big Gay Out, in Auckland after approaching politicians, including MPs Carmel Sepuloni and Chlöe Swarbrick. The incident involved members of the queer rights group Rainbow Action Tāmaki (RAT) heckling, and a protester jumped a barrier to reach the stage. RAT spokesperson Mia Crossan clarified that the stage invaders were not RAT members but community members frustrated by a lack of representation. Security intervened, escorting the protesters back to the audience.
