Brussels Masonic Temple hit by TikTok Hoax, creator arrested

Brussels’ Masonic Temple of the Cercle des Amis Philanthropes, a protected monument since 1975, was vandalized following a viral TikTok video falsely linking it to “satanic rituals.” The video’s creator, facing charges of defamation and improper use of an electronic communication device, will stand trial in April 2025. The temple, known for its Egyptian Revival style, has faced threats and break-in attempts, prompting residents to file complaints with local authorities and the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office to issue a warning against spreading fake news online.
