Summary
John Miller, a 63-year-old British man from Kent, faces charges in the US for espionage and arms smuggling for China, working alongside Cui Guanghai, 43. They allegedly solicited the procurement of US defense articles and attempted to thwart protests against Chinese President Xi Jinping, including installing a tracker on a protester’s car and paying dissenters to retract their criticism. If convicted, Miller could face significant prison time for conspiracy, stalking, and smuggling offenses, as US authorities emphasize a commitment to national security and protecting free speech against foreign repression.
