“Dad would love a day like today,” Ben shared about Brian Mulroney, who passed away at the age of 84 on Feb. 29 and will be lying in state on Parliament Hill on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ben Mulroney reflected on his father’s legacy during an interview with Vassy Kapelos, host of CTV News Channel’s Power Play.
“I miss his laugh, I miss talking to him on the phone, I miss kissing him right on the forehead,” Ben expressed, acknowledging his father’s kind and wise nature.
Looking back, Ben acknowledges that he will miss his father’s humor and guidance, which have shaped him into the person he is today.
Following Mulroney’s passing, stories emerged of his habit of making personal phone calls to lift people’s spirits, regardless of their circumstances. This compassionate gesture had a significant impact on those around him, both personally and politically.
Serving as prime minister from 1984 to 1993, Mulroney received praise from various political backgrounds for his dedication to Canada and his commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.
