Brazil’s former intelligence chief arrested by US immigration authorities

Brazilian former intelligence chief Alexandre Ramagem has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Florida after fleeing Brazil following a 16-year prison sentence for his role in a coup plot linked to former President Jair Bolsonaro. Ramagem reportedly crossed into Guyana before traveling to the U.S. The Brazilian government is seeking his extradition, while Ramagem’s ally claims his detention was due to a minor traffic violation and that he has a pending asylum application.
