Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will stand trial for allegedly attempting to overturn his 2022 election loss and stage a coup, as ruled by five Supreme Court justices based on a federal investigative police report. Bolsonaro is accused of participating in a plot to overturn his loss, poison his successor, and kill other officials. He denies any wrongdoing, claiming political bias. Seven of his allies will also stand trial on various charges related to the coup attempt. Bolsonaro has already been banned from running for office until 2030 due to previous electoral violations and is facing other investigations for misconduct.
