Body of climber Nirmal Purja and six others recovered after avalanche

Rescue teams in Pakistan have recovered the bodies of seven climbers, including renowned Nepali-British mountaineer Nirmal Purja, following an avalanche on Broad Peak that buried a ten-member international expedition. Three climbers, including Pakistani guide Sohail Sakhi, remain missing. The avalanche struck the 8,051-meter peak in the Karakoram range, complicating retrieval efforts due to challenging terrain and weather conditions. Purja, famous for his record-breaking climbs, has been honored globally for his contributions to mountaineering.
