A tragic search and rescue mission in Sydney’s south-west ended with the bodies of a mother and her two young children being found in the Georges River. Bystanders attempted to save the family after they were seen in distress, but only the 32-year-old woman could be pulled to shore alive. Police and volunteers searched for the woman’s seven-year-old son and five-year-old daughter before their bodies were found metres from a jetty, with authorities investigating the incident.
