Boatless in Gaza: using old fridge doors to catch fish

Fisherman Khaled Habib in Gaza City’s fishing port uses a makeshift paddleboard made from refrigerator doors and cork due to Israeli bombardment destroying most boats. The United Nations FAO reports a drastic decline in Gaza’s fishing sector, leading Habib to fish mainly inside the port with dough as bait. Despite a fragile ceasefire, fishing outside the port is prohibited due to the risk of being shot at by Israeli boats.
