'Blasphemy': Singer Rufus Wainwright condemns Trump's use of his ‘Hallelujah’ cover

Singer Rufus Wainwright expressed horror at Donald Trump using his cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah at a campaign rally, stating the song represents peace, love, and acceptance. Wainwright, born in the US but raised in Montreal, called the event “the height of blasphemy” and hoped Trump might feel remorse by truly listening to the lyrics. Despite being mortified, Wainwright remains skeptical of Trump’s ability to change.
