An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) will be implemented in Northern Ireland following confirmed cases of bird flu in wild birds in various locations. The AIPZ will require all bird-keepers to adhere to strict biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of the disease. Minister for Agriculture Andrew Muir emphasized the importance of protecting the poultry industry, valued at over £600 million, and urged flock-keepers to take immediate action to reduce the risk of avian influenza entering the poultry flock.
