Liberal comedian Bill Maher criticized his “woke” Hollywood peers for not awarding him, despite being nominated for 33 Emmys, during a recent episode of his “Club Random” podcast with Joel Edgerton. Maher humorously acknowledged that his outspoken nature likely contributes to his lack of wins, stating that “this woke town f—— hates” his free speech. At the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, he was nominated for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy but lost to Ricky Gervais. Maher’s Emmy history includes numerous nominations, but only one win as an executive producer for HBO’s “Vice.”
