The federal Liberals have accepted Conservative amendments to the controversial section of the Carney government’s omnibus budget bill, C-15, which allows for the creation of “regulatory sandboxes” enabling businesses to bypass certain laws. The amendments require a 30-day public consultation, dual ministerial approval, equal rules for all sector participants, and a comprehensive report to Parliament. Meanwhile, veterans advocates are calling for changes to other parts of the bill that they claim undermine their reimbursement rights.
