Belgium has joined South Africa’s case at the ICJ alleging Israel’s genocide in Gaza, with other countries like Brazil, Colombia, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, and Turkiye already participating. The ICJ issued provisional measures ordering Israel to prevent genocide in Gaza and criticized its presence in occupied Palestinian territory as unlawful. Despite international criticism, Israel continues its assaults in Gaza and the West Bank, while the US and European allies support Israel. Belgium, which also recognized Palestine, has joined the case, as South Africa seeks justice for Palestinian casualties since the war began in October 2023.
