In late July, Muntazer Mehdi and his family fled their home in Chogogrung, Pakistan, due to a glacial lake outburst caused by climate change, joining many others affected by severe flooding in Gilgit-Baltistan. The melting glaciers, exacerbated by global warming and deforestation, pose significant threats to local communities, destabilizing landscapes and increasing risks of landslides and floods.
