Aviation experts say Russia's air defense fire likely caused Azerbaijan plane crash

Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer 190 crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, killing 38 people and injuring 29 survivors. Russian air defense fire is suspected to be the cause of the crash. The plane was en route from Baku to Grozny when it was diverted for unknown reasons and crashed while attempting to land in Kazakhstan. Cellphone footage showed the aircraft making a steep descent before crashing. Azerbaijan observed a nationwide moment of silence to mourn the victims. President Ilham Aliyev stated that it was too soon to speculate on the crash’s reasons but mentioned weather as a factor.
