Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed concern over reports that Melbourne school teacher Oscar Jenkins, who was taken prisoner while fighting for Ukraine, may have been harmed by Russia. Albanese stated that the Australian government will take the “strongest action possible” if harm has come to Jenkins, calling on Russia to confirm his status immediately. Australia has been generous in supporting Ukraine’s war effort, including providing military assistance valued at over AU$1.3 billion since Russia’s 2022 invasion.
