In 2024, Australian telcos have reported a significant reliance on mobile phones, with Telstra averaging 60 million phone calls per day and Vodafone around 11 million. Vodafone customers send 2.9 text messages per day, totaling 2.7 billion texts per year. Data usage is also on the rise, with Telstra carrying nine million gigabytes of data daily, while Optus and Vodafone report significant data consumption as well. Overall, mobile phone usage for communication, information, and entertainment continues to increase.
