Australian sprinter Gout Gout, 17, narrowly missed qualifying for the 200m World Championship final, finishing third in his semifinal with a time of 20.36 seconds, slightly slower than his heat time of 20.23 seconds. Had he advanced, Gout would have been the first Australian to reach the final since 2005, while American Noah Lyles clocked the fastest semifinal time of 19.51 seconds.
